11 weeks

16 Sep

We had a doctor’s appointment on Monday and I was really looking forward to it. I knew that he would try to listen to the heartbeat and if he couldn’t find it he’d do an ultra sound. Well, that’s what happened and while it was a little nerve wrecking, the ultra sound was one of the most amazing moments of my life. As soon as the baby appeared on the screen, it was waving! We could see arms and legs and a profile… it was incredible.

This picture isn’t great, it was much better in person, but can you see the head?

Thanks for the compliments on the chalkboard idea! This very chalkboard used to say “reception” on it. Why? Because it was a sign at our wedding. We have a bunch of them in different sizes that we used for various signs throughout our wedding. I was happy that I thought of using one for these weekly pregnancy pictures.

I’m a little bit obsessed with feet/shoe pictures like the second one above. I even asked our photographer to include some for our wedding. Since I’m taking these pictures of my feet each week, I feel like I have to plan out which shoes I’ll wear so I don’t repeat the same pair a million times. I didn’t wear these red flats the day I took this picture (Wednesday). I wore the same black ones from my 9 week post. Normal people probably wouldn’t notice or care, but as we all know, I’m not so normal.

A few people wanted me to share my preferences so I will in another post (probably for next Wednesday’s Spearmint Baby post). I will tell you that my doctor said that I’m the boss when it comes to decisions about labor/delivery, so that’s good.

If you’ve struggled TTC and you’re reading this, I’ve been you. I used to read people’s pregnancy posts and hate myself for how terrible they made me feel. Know that you’ll be here one day and it will be awesome.

Now for a few complaints, if I’m allowed.

I feel really fat. The weigh-in at my doctor this week didn’t help, either. I have gained the “normal” amount for my BMI for the first trimester, but I gained some weight leading up to getting pregnant and the number on the scale scares me now. I know it’s only going to get worse, but I’m trying to make healthy choices and have some balance.

My skin is terrible. Right before school started a month ago, I switched to Bare Essentuals makeup (which I love, by the way). For a couple of weeks after that, my skin started clearing up (I had been breaking out pretty bad since I did Provera back in December of last year). I thought it was probably a combination of the new makeup and pregnancy hormones, but now my skin is worse than ever. I want my pregnancy glow, not a teenage crater face.

My boobs are huge and the only one who’s happy is my husband. I’m not used to big boobs. Before, if I fell asleep with my bra on it was no big deal. Now, I can’t wait to take it off at night. And they’re only going to get bigger. Oh boy.

I pee 3-4 times a night already. Over it. Again, only going to get worse as the baby grows.

But, it’s all worth it. SO worth it. I wouldn’t change a thing.

OH MY GOD!!! I'm obviously behind on my google reader reading. Congratulations!! I am so thrilled for you. Every pregnancy is wonderful, but when a fellow IF-er gets pregnant it kinda brings a tear to my eye. I'm at 27w now (just told people a couple weeks ago) and in the beginning felt pretty much the same way as you say you do now. I had gained about 6-10lbs from my miscarriages and general depression before this pregnancy and to make matters worse was basically banned from doing any exercise in the 1st tri so I put on a lot more than normal right away. It all balances out though and really slowed down for a while. Since 18w or so I've only been up once or twice a night, whereas it was 4-5 before. And not to worry, when your bump gets bigger the boobs balance things out. Of course I didn't exactly have any before, so I'm kind of fascinated with having them now 😉

It's going by too fast! You are almost in the 2nd trimester. And YOU are so allowed complaints. I think the whole pregnancy glow thing is a myth, but I'm 99.9% sure you are having a girl, and I'm 1/4th psychic so it's true. And you are not fat, you are beautiful! Don't stress. Supposedly the peeing in the middle of the night will become less frequent in the second trimester, and then increase again in the third. Can't remember if that was the case for me, but hopefully it is for you!

Can I just say, you are one adorably pregnant lady! I love that dress. And complain away, it's your blog after all! And hearing the downsides of pregnancy is useful to people not there yet–helps to know what is in store, even if it's feeling huge and peeing during the night (uh, I already do those things!).

I just found out one of my co-workers is also preggers and she too is going through some major skin issues. I found out yesterday but had already guessed it cuz she was super skinny (like you) before getting pregnant but is now def bigger than me…she's about as far along as you, so I'm sure it's TOTALLY normal!! You are so thin to begin with that you do not need to worry at all!

So. I am a little late on this post. But…welcome to the big boob club! 🙂 I have a large chest and girl, I totally get what you mean when you say you can't wait to take your bra off at night. Literally, mine comes off almost immediately when I come in the door, haha.Just had to share! You look fabulous, seriously. So cute! 🙂
