15 weeks

14 Oct

I took my pictures too late in the day today, hence the bad light and grainy quality. Sorry about that.

This is my newest maternity outfit. It’s one of my favorites. The pants and shirt are both from Old Navy and I feel like I finally look pregnant when I’m wearing it.

I got to hear the heartbeat this week! I was waiting for this appointment to finally feel like everything was going to be alright and it’s really sinking in that in about 5 1/2 months, we will actually have a baby. Last night, we brought dinner to our friends Danny and Marissa who just had a baby three weeks ago. Holding her and talking to Marissa about the birth and her experience breast feeding made me feel really excited about this journey. I can’t wait to have a little bundle of our own. I know it’ll be hard, but so worth it.

You know how women say they get their energy back in the second trimester? Not so much. I’m still as tired as ever. I do feel like I’ve had a really easy pregnancy so far and am thankful for no complications and minimal annoyances. I hope it continues!

I took two prenatal yoga classes at two different studios this week. I’m trying out places before we buy a pack of classes. I’ll write about my experiences (I’ve been to three very different classes so far) next week. I still can’t decide which place to stick with…

I told my students this week! It went very well. My ninth graders, who I was most worried about, took it very well and some of them even asked if they could throw me a baby shower. My tenth grade honors classes both broke out into applause! It was cool… and awkward. I feel very lucky to have so many people (even teenage students) supporting me. It’s going to be a fun year!

No matter how hard I work, I feel like I can’t catch up. I didn’t prepare as much as I should have this summer because I had just found out I was pregnant and my brain didn’t have room for anything else other than that. Also, I tend to work much better under pressure. However, that’s not the best way to live while growing a human. I might be in too deep to fix it now, though. Just keep swimming, that’s my motto.

Big changes happening in our casa. This weekend, I’ll move my clothes into the master closet and my husband and I will share for the first time since we’ve lived in this house. Then, the following weekend, my husband is going to skim (or flatten) the textured walls in the hallway and baby room. I hope. I really want that to be finished before Thanksgiving and, knowing my husband, he’d better start now. After Thanksgiving, we’ll paint the room and put up crown moulding. Then, we have to start figuring out furniture and decorating. Ahhhhh! So much to do! I’m already panicking. In an omg-this-is-so-awesome kind of way.

I'm glad your students took it well! 🙂 Yay for looking pregnant! Maybe in a week or so you'll get energy back! My friend is pregnant and due in January and she feels like if she weren't chasing her 9 month old around, she'd have the 2nd trimester energy burst. Haha. So…maybe not everyone gets that burst?xo,A

You are soooo pregnant, haha. I bought those Old Navy pants last weekend!! And the whole class errupting in applause thing, I would have died. So awkward. For some reason, clapping makes me cringe in weird settings, like your experience, and at the movies. Anywho, love you!
