I’m Loving: This House

10 Jan

I’m totally in love with this house featured on Design Sponge today from Fiona Douglas of Bluebellgray! It is too late to make any more requests of Emily, but I’m really hoping she is going in a similar direction to this…

How beautiful is that wall color? You know about my frame-hoarding tendencies, so a gallery wall like this one would totally work for me. And those pillows? To die for.

Color-coded built-in bookcases? Yes, please!

I’m really digging butcher block counter-tops. I’m not sure how practical they are, but I love how they look (and they’re cheap). Give me a little white subway tile with dark grout and I’m one happy lady.

Call me crazy, but I could see this color palate in a girl’s nursery. Dark blue walls and bring pink accessories with mixed finish furniture… I’ll have to remember that.

If I was single, I’d want my room to look like this. So feminine and lovely.

Where do you get your inspiration for design (be it interior or clothing)?

I’m Loving…

Some things I’m loving this Monday morning…

Wouldn’t that mobile from Etsy seller Gosh and Golly look adorable hanging above a crib in a gender-neutral nursery? And I could see that little colorful rain scene on the wall above a changing table…

This home was featured on Design Sponge today and I love the branches behind the couch SO much. See the little birdies??

I’ve been thinking about our Christmas cards since September, but if I win this contest on Weddingbee, I might have to scrap my original idea and get those adorable cards with Ruby and Jackson’s faces on them.

If I was rich, I’d be all over this teal coach purse.

What are you loving lately?

Have you heard of a push present? It is really just another excuse for a husband to buy his wife a present… and I like presents…

Again: I’m not pregnant. Yet.

This family tree necklace from Soul Peaces Etsy shop is amazing (found via These Little Moments).

It comes with the branch and one leaf imprinted with your initial of choice and you can buy more leaves to add as your family grows. I love the look of it with just one leaf, the leaf representing the children, the branch representing the bond of the mom and dad, but I would also love to continue adding leaves as my family grows. Trees were a big part of our wedding and I love the “tree of life” symbolism.

Did you receive a “push present”? Would you want to?

I haven’t blogged in over a month. I have a list of posts stored on my phone (any time I think of a topic I want to blog about I put it on my “blog” note), but I have been too busy at work and too tired at home to just sit and write.

You see, blogging makes me happy. It lets me get out my thoughts and do something just for me. I know most people don’t really care about everything I write about (not looking for validation here, just stating fact), but I love having a place to spill my brain and be a bit creative.

Another reason I haven’t blogged? In protest. I really really really really want a laptop. Not a cheap-o dell or a netbook, I want a macbook. I know, I know, I can’t always get what I want, but it would really make my life happier. When my husband wants to watch sports on TV, I can just sit there on the couch, in the same room, blogging, browsing, reading, whatever. If we’re in bed and I can’t sleep, I can blog, browse, read… you get the idea. With a desktop in the office (which before we had our home, I loved the idea of; having an office to get away and work/surf alone) it means I have to spend time in a room all by myself with no TV noise to make me feel safe. Yes, when I’m home alone I have to have the TV on so I feel like there is someone with me. Sad, I know.

I actually used to have a black macbook. It was amazing. It was my baby. It got my through grad school. It got stolen out of our North Hollywood apartment. It was devastating.

I haven’t been making an effort to blog because I feel like I MUST have a macbook in order to be an excellent blogger. Hopefully I will be able to teach summer school this year (I applied, but waiting for budget decisions) so this dream can become a reality. If I get one, I will make a commitment to blog every day. Aren’t you excited?

If my husband and I ever renew our vows, I want to make one of these:

It is a bouquet made out of vintage brooches and earrings. Isn’t it lovely?

I was reading one of my favorite blogs today and came across this amazing laptop cover from twelve south.

One of my goals this year is to save up enough money, most likely from teaching summer school, to buy a Macbook. This cover would be perfect for me, as I am an English teacher, and it would look like I’m just carrying an old book. It is nearly $80, which is a bit pricey, but maybe I can write it off with the computer because I’ll use it for work…. I know, I’m reaching here.

Love this! I want one! MINE!
