#reberb10: Beautifully Different

8 Dec

December 8 – Beautifully Different. Think about what makes you different and what you do that lights people up. Reflect on all the things that make you different – you’ll find they’re what make you beautiful. (Author: Karen Walrond)

Hmmm… well, I think… a lot. I get a sense that most people go about their days, making decision after decision, without much thought about it all, but I reflect on everything. Sometimes this can be a good thing – in teaching, for example, reflection is necessary to ensuring my methods are working. But other times, this constant thinking can get in the way of me having fun. Instead of going with the flow and being carefree, I over think everything and end up not having as much fun as others.

Do I do anything that lights people up? I’m not sure…

Does all this make me beautiful? I don’t think so…

Tag, You’re It!

22 Oct

Yesterday, I was tagged by my blog friend Ali from His Birdie’s Nest. She had answered a set of questions asked by her tagger and she tagged my blog, along with some others, and asked us some questions! I am busy this morning getting ready for camping, but I wanted to write this post before we left because I plan to be unplugged for the next few days.

Ok, here we go…

1. What do you believe your best feature is, physical and personality?

I think my best physical feature used to be my rear-end, but as that is getting a little huge, I’d say my blue eyes. People compliment me on my hair when I actually manage to make it look decent because it is very thick, but I hate dealing with it everyday.

Personality-wise, I’d say my easy going nature. I try to go with the flow (most of the time) because I want to please everyone.

2. What is your favorite dish to make?

Salmon is the easiest thing for me to cook and it usually tastes pretty good. Enchiladas are a pain to make, but they’re my favorite thing to eat, especially when I make extra for leftovers!

3. What is your favorite article of clothing? and why?

This always changes for me. I will wear the hell out of one new thing, then get sick of it and switch to something else. I just got this new plaid shirt at Old Navy that I love because it is extra long and comfy, but I think my most flattering piece is my Banana Republic Outlet pink-ish wrap shirt dress.

4. What is the one gift you really hope to get for the holidays this year?

I really really want a macbook of some kind. I know that is a huge present, but my husband and I are thinking about getting it for each other this year as our only present.

5. What was your favorite blog post? and why?

I think my “Thoughts on God” post was my favorite because I opened up about something I rarely talk about. I wish there had been more of a discussion in the comments, though.

6. Which blogger would you most like to have dinner with? and why?

I’d love to have dinner with Ali (I had the chance a few weeks ago, but couldn’t make it because Emily came over), Jenna of That Wife, and Mandy of OMG I’m a Mom. Sorry, I couldn’t pick just one…

3. What is the one blog you look forward to reading each day and why?
4. What would you call your personal style?
5. Who had the biggest influence on you growing up and why?

Yay! I can’t wait to read the blogs, ladies!

Some questions and answers

What do you think are the keys to the Lakers getting a victory in game 7?

  1. I always tell my husband to be positive during a game. I don’t think it really makes a difference, but at least he’ll stop yelling at the tv.

    do you have any regrets?
Not really. The only things would be money-related. I wish I had been more careful with money when I was in college and I wish I would have bought a cheaper car when I got my first teaching job.

when you guys finally have babies who do you think will do the disciplining in your house, you or your husband?
This is a great question! I can tell you from experience (hey, we have 2 dogs… parenting practice) that I am definitely more strict and my husband will give in much more easily. However, I am more maternal (duh) and tend to “coddle” as he calls it. If our baby falls down and hurts him or herself, I’ll be the one to pick him or her up and wipe away the tears. He’d like to toughen them up (pretty typical for a father, right?).

Recent formspring Q & A:

Are you sure you wouldn’t want to be well off and work full time??? 😉

I just don’t know. I think I could handle being a working mom, but if it is possible to afford our house and bills while staying home, I would love to be able to have that be my full time job 🙂
if you HAD TO kill one of your friends or one of your dogs who would you kill and why? How would you do it?
haha, I’d kill you with a meat cleaver…

are you a natural blonde?
I am, but it is now a darkish dirty blonde. I get highlights to brighten it up a bit (and because when I was 19 I dyed my hair red and had to gradually go back to blonde – once you dye your hair, you’re pretty much stuck doing it forever).

if you could move anywhere in the world…where would you go?
Well, I haven’t been very many places yet. I imagine I’d love Australia (we’ll soon find out), Ireland, and Paris. I really loved Seattle when I visited a few years ago and I can see myself living in a suburb near the city. I also love Northern CA and hope to move up there one day.
Keep them coming!! You can even ask on the right side of this blog!

I think my husband is the only one asking…

Questions Answered

would you rather live poor and stay at home or be well off and work full time?

I think I’d rather live poor and stay home, but I guess it all depends how poor. I think if we can afford our essentials with one income, I can live without the extras. Who knows, maybe I’ll want to work! Ha.

Do you have baby names picked out and do you prefer one gender over another?

We do have favorite names for each gender (Liam for a boy, Lila for a girl), but I’m sure by the time we actually have the baby we’ll change our minds. I really want a girl first and my husband really wants a boy first. I know that when we first find out the gender one of us is bound to be disappointed, but I’m sure that disappointment will disappear pretty quickly!

What TV show makes you laugh the loudest?

GLEE! Gosh I freakin love that show.

Do you believe there’s intelligent life on other planets?

Oh yes, way more intelligent than we are.

If you could look like anybody, who would it be?

Carrie Underwood, she is SO hot.

Ok, I will admit, those last three questions were asked by formspring to get me started… so please…
